About The Group

For more than four decades, the Mayer Group has leveraged a far-reaching vision and solid, value-oriented management to become one of the trailblazers in the Israeli automobile market.

Established in 1967 by the late Mayer Kass , Mayer's Cars and Trucks Ltd. began as the exclusive importer of Volvo products to Israel. Beginning with cars, the company gradually added trucks, buses, engines and heavy mechanical machinery. Over the years the company has developed an advanced sales and customer service network with a logistics support system and a range of complementary services such as leasing, trade-in, insurance, funding and more.

During the 90s, the company acquired other top brand names such as  Honda (cars, motorbikes and engines), Jaguar and Renault trucks. In addition to its vehicle imports, Mayer acquired other companies with similar or complementary interests. Together they now form the leading vehicle group in Israel - Hertz Car Rental, Auto Center (second-hand cars), Kavim (public transport), Merkavim (bus chassis), Kogol Unitrade (Michelin tire importers), Mayer Ramot insurance services, Israel Phoenix and others. The Mayer Group is also the sole owner of the Maccabi Haifa Football Club and a number of overseas companies active in real estate and public transport.

The group employs more than 2,500 workers and operates 32 sales agencies and more than 60 service centers and workshops across Israel.  Its overall turnover in 2011 was approximately $1.5 billion.  The Mayer Group is renowned for its excellent reputation, financial stability and superior sales and service . All of this reflects the international standards of the vehicle manufacturers Mayer represents in Israel. Mayer's vision and values inspire its employees to act responsibly, professionally, and with integrity.

Their aim is to provide a positive dialogue with clients and thus foster "experiential encounter" while nurturing long-term partnerships between the company, its employees and its clients.

At the beginning of 2012, the Mayer Group changed its structure and became a holding company divided into three areas – motor vehicles, real estate and investments.

The group's controlling shareholders are the Kass and Shachar families .
